Welcome From The PTO President

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to a brand new school year! I’m Kayla Mies, your PTO President for the 2025–2026 school year. As a parent with a long history at Jerome Harrison Elementary—my son began in the pilot pre-K program back in 2017 and is now entering 7th grade, while my daughter is starting her final year at Jerome as a 2nd grader—this school holds a very special place in my heart. It always will, even after our time here comes to an end.

I’m truly excited to be leading the PTO again this year. After shadowing for a few months, I officially stepped into the role last year, and this will be my final year as president. Our PTO has had great success with past fundraisers, and this year will be no different as we continue working toward new goals. Last year, we were able to install the blacktop in the front field, with a basketball hoop, and we were able to contribute some funding toward the rubber mulch in the front playground—improvements we’re so proud of.

The PTO plays a vital role in helping make Jerome Harrison a fun, supportive, and thriving school community. We’re eager to continue organizing family events and boosting parent involvement. Seeing our students’ smiles makes every effort more than worth it.

Please join us at our PTO meetings typically the 3rd Tuesday of every month in our school’s cafeteria starting on Tuesday September 23rd at 7:00pm. We also encourage you to like our facebook page (Jerome Harrison PTO)

I’m fortunate to be working alongside an amazing team this year:

Victoria Lanza (Vice President) Alayna Macmillen (Treasurer) Cristina Moalli (Co-Treasurer) Mouna Weaver (Secretary) Jessica Saba (President-in-Training)

Together, we’re looking forward to an exciting, successful year!

Warmly,

Kayla Mies

PTO President, 2025–2026

What is The PTO

The Parent Teacher Organization (P.T.O.) is a non-profit organization that provides programs and materials to enrich extracurricular, social, and educational activities. Its aim is to support the school and strengthen the relationship among home, school, and the community. It is through joint efforts that a better school experience is provided. Membership dues, along with proceeds from fund-raisers further these objectives. Meetings are held once per month on the second Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. Membership is open to all teachers, parents or guardians of JHS children. Each year is filled with many rich and diverse learning opportunities for the children. All parents are encouraged to become as involved as possible.
