Program Description

School-Age Enrichment Program at Jerome Harrison Elementary School

Program Description

The program is staffed with a Head Teacher and Teacher Assistants.  The Head Teacher is responsible for planning all activities. We maintain a 10:1 Teacher to student ratio at all times.  Teachers are certified in CPR, First Aid, and EpiPen.

Morning Care

We are open Monday-Friday starting at 7:00 am – 9:00 am.

Breakfast is served daily at 8:00 am – 8:15 am.

Children will engage in play activities in the classroom until 7:45 am. From 7:45 am – 8:00 am, the children will participate in a morning meeting led by the head teacher. Then, they will eat breakfast upstairs in the cafeteria until 8:15 am. After breakfast, children will break into groups to spend the rest of the morning. The FRC room, gymnasium, computer lab, and library are all destinations that FRC uses throughout the school year during morning care.

Afternoon Care

We are open again at school dismissal time (3:15) until 6:00 pm.

Snack is served daily afterschool at 3:20 pm.

During the afternoon session at FRC, children are engaged in play and learning activities that keep them active and learning even after school time. The staff will check in with the children after school and take attendance. We will provide a snack and let the children socialize and unwind after the school day. After snack, children are split into groups and will spend the rest of the afternoon rotating through areas of the school as well as the FRC building. Children will participate in engaging, team-building, and challenging games led by our wonderful staff. We also offer a large variety of toys such as building blocks, animals, puzzles, board games card games, and more!

Our goals and objectives are

  • To provide a quality program that is available during times school is not in session and that is affordable and accessible to families needing the service.

  • To help children make new friends and learn how to get along with others.

  • To provide activities that offer opportunities for choice and success for each child in the program.

  • To work cooperatively with parents toward common goals for their child/children.
